HELLO

I’m Claire Carter, a qualified and experienced counsellor, coach and trainer based in the BEAUTIFUL Ribble Valley, Lancashire.

I work with young people (16 years upwards) and adults and offer secure online appointments as well as face to face sessions, my office base is near the centre of Clitheroe with free parking, there are steps up to the room which is on the first floor of the building.

I’m a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and work within their Ethical Framework (visit www.bacp.org.uk for more information) I’m fully insured and DBS checked.

I originally trained as a counsellor in the Person Centred model, but offer what’s often described as an Integrative Approach, blending a range of therapeutic models to suit individual clients.

As well as one to one counselling I offer a range of Wellbeing services including coaching, sand tray therapy, walk and talk therapy as well as group training and workshops.

My qualifications include: Level 4 Diploma Therapeutic Counselling (Dip C), Diploma in Therapeutic Coaching (FCTC), BA Hons Applied Social Sciences, Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), NLP Diploma, Certificate in Mentoring Skills, Certificate in Brief Solution Focused Therapy

In addition I have trained in: Mindfulness Techniques, Outdoor Therapy, CBT Interventions, Energy Psychology, Creative Therapy – Sand Tray Therapy.

Before training to become a counsellor I spent a large part of my career as a trainer and facilitator in the further education and the charity sectors and have been a tutor on accredited Counselling Diplomas as well as a group facilitator for a range of self-help groups.

As well as enjoying running my private practice I work as the part time Wellbeing Co-ordinator for a local mental health charity The Foundation for Ribble Valley Families. The emphasis for their work is on early intervention and the importance of self care and using therapeutic coaching strategies to help manage anxiety and low mood and support personal growth and development.

In whatever spare time I have I make the most of my lovely surroundings and go out walking, I’m a great believer in the power of nature to heal and I find Mindful walks really helpful. I actively promote self-care to clients and try to ‘practice what I preach’ with meditation, Pilates, gardening and photography although I readily admit it’s not always easy to find time and space to do it all!
